FAU Hits the Road to Face WKU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 2022 regular season is winding down for the Florida Atlantic University women’s soccer team, and the Owls are looking to finish strong. With only four games remaining, FAU will travel to WKU for a 7 p.m. eastern match on Thursday, Oct. 13.

ABOUT FAU

  • FAU is currently tied for fourth in the C-USA standings, as the Owls and North Texas each have 10 points
  • The Owls are looking to build off the momentum of a dominant 6-0 win over UTEP last time out. The six goals that the Owls scored are their most in a single game since Aug. 25, 2019 in the 7-1 win over Grand Canyon
  • Thelma Hermannsdottir enjoyed a career day, scoring a hat trick in the blowout win. Hermannsdottir’s hat trick is the Owls’ first since Miracle Porter in that Grand Canyon game in 2019
  • Hermannsdottir has now scored four goals this year after entering the season with three on her career. Her four goals this season is tied for 10th in the conference
  • Hermannsdottir is one of only four players in C-USA who have scored a hat trick this season
  • As a team, FAU is now tied for third in the conference in total goals with 21 this season. The Owls have already surpassed last year’s goal total of 19, as well as last year’s win total
  • Bri Austin is FAU’s leader with 15 points, which ties her for second in C-USA
  • Austin’s five goals are tied for third in the conference
  • The six goals against UTEP are the third-most of any C-USA team in a single game this season
  • FAU has continued to play strong defense this year, with only 13 goals allowed in 15 games which ranks the Owls third in C-USA
  • The Owls’ defense has allowed one goal or fewer in 13 of the 15 games this year, including eight straight games starting on Sept. 10 at UT Martin
  • Elin Simonardottir and Hailey Landrus each recorded their first career goal in the UTEP win
  • Landrus has been a playmaking back, with five assists this year to tie Austin for the team lead. Landrus tallied two helpers in the victory over the Miners

SERIES HISTORY

  • WKU has held the upper hand in this series, as FAU is 4-6-3 in this head to head matchup dating back to 2006
  • Last season, the Owls took their first victory in Bowling Green in series history with a 1-0 win
