FAU Continues MT Prep

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University football enjoyed cloud cover and a cool ocean breeze during Wednesday morning’s practice and will use that weather to keep their legs fresh as they head into the final stretch of the season that will see the Owls play three road games in 13 days.

FAU (5-1, 4-1 Conference USA) will travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee this weekend to face Middle Tennessee (3-6, 2-4 C-USA), Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern. This week’s game will be carried by CBS Sports Network and on Fox Sports South Florida 640AM.
Taggart’s TakeWillie Taggart
On Saturday’s game:
“Whether we are on the road or at home, it is just playing the game a certain way. We have to continue to play that way. We have to play a clean football game. Being on the road with no penalties would be big there and not turn the football over is really critical, especially when you are on the road. And then, it would be great to get some more takeaways.”

What stands out about Middle Tennessee’s offense besides Asher O’Hara:
“They are very skillful. Their receivers, they can run and catch the ball. If you watch their running back’s game film, game after game you can see each and every game he is getting better. He has made a lot of improvements from earlier in the year. Getting to the quarterback, (he) is what makes it go and he makes it go and you say what else better. It is better because they are all playing really hard for him. He is a heck of an athlete and guys are straining for him. They are doing whatever they can to catch balls for him, blocking for him, [and] playing their tails off. For us defensively, this will be probably one of our toughest challenges.”

Defensive End Ryan Veingrad
What has stood out about this year’s line as compared to other years?
“Our defensive line is run by Coach [Kevin] Patrick and he takes a lot of pride in doing the little things right, like running to the ball, being physical and making sure you get your right steps, and (he) has really rallied all of us together to play as a unit and not be selfish…It has been good.”
