FAU Breaks into ITA Poll, No. 33

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men’s tennis team has rattled off eight-consecutive wins to open 2022 and for their efforts, the Owls are listed No. 33 in this week’s International Tennis Association’s poll, as announced by the ITA on Wednesday.

Collectively, FAU is 36-9 in singles play with two players, Kevin Huempfner and Finn Stodder, holding perfect records at 7-0. While the duo has been instrumental in the team earning the highest Division I national ranking in program history, it goes without saying that the total team culture and team-above-self mentality has played into the unprecedented success.

COACH’S COMMENT

Director of Tennis Ricard Gonzalez on the team’s national ranking
“This is a great achievement for our program,” said Gonzales. “We are continuously taking steps in the right direction. This is all credit to our student-athletes, alumni, staff and administration, who have put in numerous hours of work with a vision of excellence toward the future. The season is long, so we need to remain, humble, stay focused, and keep working hard towards our end goal.”
