Fan Fest to Feature Free Youth Clinic Conducted by First Female NFL Coach

Meet the Bulls football team 2-4 p.m. Saturday in the Yuengling Center

Free Youth Flag Football Clinic for boys and girls from 3rd-8th grade

TAMPA, AUG. 6, 2019 – USF fans can meet Head Coach Charlie Strong and the 2019 Bulls football team Saturday as Fan Fest presented by Florida Blue will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Yuengling Center on the USF campus. This year’s event will also feature a free Youth Flag Football Clinic conducted by Dr. Jen Welter, the first female coach in the NFL, following Fan Fest. 

The Youth Flag Football Clinic will be held from 4-6 p.m., following the conclusion of Fan Fest presented by Florida Blue, at the USF Morsani Football Practice Facility, located across the street from the Yuengling Center. The clinic is open to the first 200 registrants. Girls and boys from the third to eighth grade may participate in the clinic (individuals who have started the ninth grade are not eligible).

Dr. Welter is the author of the book “Play Big: Lessons in Being Limitless From the First Woman To Coach in the NFL.” Most recently a defensive specialist with the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football (AAF), Welter previously served as inside linebackers coach for the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals and a linebackers and special teams coach for the Texas Revolution of the Champions Indoor Football League. Welter also had an extensive playing career and is a veteran of several women’s professional and semi-professional football teams, playing running back. She was a gold medal-winning member of Team USA at the IFAF Women’s World Championship in 2010 and 2013. She earned a PhD in psychology from Capella University.

Fans can get pictures and autographs with the entire 2019 Bulls football team as well as Coach Strong and the coaching staff during Fan Fest presented by Florida Blue. Special Fan Fest posters will be free to the public at the event for use in obtaining autographs. Outside items will not be allowed to be autographed during the event. Fans can also participate in interactive football activities and purchase USF football merchandise.

USF opens the season on Fri., Aug. 30 with an ESPN primetime clash with Wisconsin at 7 p.m. in Raymond James Stadium. Season, single-game and ticket packages are available by calling 1-800-GoBulls or visiting USFBullstix.com or Ticketmaster.
