Do you ever wake up feeling like you want to go back to sleep?
Have you ever just wanted to put your head on your desk and take a nap in the afternoon?
Have you ever been afraid to sit down and relax when you get home from work for fear you will fall asleep and not get things done?
If you have answered yes to any of these questions, you are not alone.

It is hard not to get frustrated when fatigue seems to plague your every day; however, it doesn’t have to.
That’s right! It doesn’t have to.
Sometimes getting a good night sleep can be a challenge. A sick child may wake you up during the night, a car alarm goes off, or maybe you can’t stop thinking about an upcoming deadline. It makes it hard to wake up refreshed when you don’t get a full night sleep. The rest of the day seems to drain your energy even more.

Start with a few simple steps daily to boost your energy– morning, afternoon, and evening:

Morning Step #1– Leave a full 20-ounce glass of water by the sink in your bathroom before you go to sleep. When you wake in the morning brush your teeth, relieve yourself and then drink that whole glass of water!
Easy right?
Hydration is key. Water hydrates your entire system, which is important for your cell, tissue and organ regeneration. It helps transport oxygen to your muscles, which immediately increases your body’s energy. Drink water all throughout the day.
Many of us have a job that keeps us indoors all day with air-conditioning or heaters and that can drain your energy too.

Afternoon Step #2– After lunch, get away from your workstation and go outside. Take a walk, even if it is just around the block, sit on a bench, visit a nearby park with lots of trees or flowers. It is about getting some fresh air! It may seem too simple but it will boost your energy and reduce stress! Try it for just 10 minutes.
If you are just not able to leave the building, find a quiet place indoors by a window or by a plant and take ten minutes to relax and unwind.
When you leave work, are you already thinking of your home list of “to dos”?

Evening Step #3– Try finding your favorite dance tune to have handy for your car-ride home, listen to it while you’re making dinner, or plug in some headphones and find your “ME” space. Then dance like no one is watching you!

Give yourself permission to LET GO!

Have a dance party of one!

You will feel the rush of energy!
