DETROIT RECALLS ZADINA, LASHOFF AND PICKARD

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today recalled right wing Filip Zadina, defenseman Brian Lashoff and goaltender Calvin Pickard from the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Zadina has logged 13 games with the Red Wings this season, registering eight points (3-5-8), which ties for the team lead since his initial recall on Nov. 24. The 20-year-old winger has appeared in 22 career NHL games over the last two seasons (2018-20), registering four goals, seven assists, 41 shots on goal, nine hits, seven blocked shots and nine takeaways in 14:41 average time on ice. Zadina has also skated in 20 games with the Griffins this season, logging 13 points (7-6-13). Prior to his initial recall to Detroit on Nov. 24, Zadina had authored one of his most productive stretches so far in the AHL, registering points in six-straight games from Nov. 8-22 (4-4-8). In 79 games with Grand Rapids over the last two seasons, the Pardubice, Czech Republic, native has logged 48 points (23-25-48) and 26 penalty minutes.
Originally drafted in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward spent the 2017-18 season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, totaling 82 points (44-38-82) in 57 games to place seventh overall in league scoring. He also led QMJHL rookies in scoring and earned a spot on the QMJHL First All-Star Team and All-Rookie Team, while winning the Mike Bossy Trophy as the league’s best professional prospect. Zadina also tied for the Halifax lead in playoff scoring by collecting 12 points (5-7-12) in nine games. Internationally, Zadina represented his country at the 2018 and 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships. At the 2018 tournament, Zadina led the Czechs with seven goals and eight points in seven games, earning a spot on the WJC All-Star Team. He previously won a gold medal with the Czech Republic at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament after posting a tournament-best seven points (5-2-7) in four games. Zadina received his first taste of professional action between 2015-17, picking up two points (1-1-2) over 27 games for HC Pardubice in the top Czech league.
Lashoff, 29, made his Red Wings season debut on Dec. 21 at Toronto, marking his 128th career NHL appearance. In his NHL stints over seven seasons since 2012-13, he has tallied 14 points (2-12-14) and 59 penalty minutes. Lashoff has also skated in 25 games with the Griffins this season, logging six points (2-4-6), a plus-two rating and 20 penalty minutes. A 10th-year pro, Lashoff ranks second in Grand Rapids franchise history in games played, skating in 478 contests since 2008-09 and logging 104 points (24-80-104), a plus-23 rating and 247 penalty minutes. Additionally, the 6-foot-3, 219-pound defenseman has appeared in eight NHL playoff games and has 19 points (5-14-19) and 34 penalty minutes in 73 career AHL postseason contests.
A native of Albany, N.Y., Lashoff is a former undrafted free agent signing by Detroit in Sept. 2008. He is one of three two-time Calder Cup champions in Griffins history, winning AHL championships in 2013 and 2017. Prior to his professional career, Lashoff logged four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League and recorded 91 points (20-71-91) and 186 penalty minutes in 215 games with the Barrie Colts and Kingston Frontenacs from 2006-10. Lashoff also won a gold medal for the United States at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatchewan, picking up two assists in seven games.
Pickard has appeared in 19 games with the Griffins this season, posting a 9-7-3 record, 3.03 goals-against average, 0.893 save percentage and one shutout in his first season with the organization. The 27-year-old also made his Red Wings debut on Nov. 29 at Philadelphia, which marked the first of his two NHL appearances this season. Over parts of six NHL seasons, Pickard has a 32-52-9 record, 2.97 goal-against average, 0.906 save percentage and four shutouts with the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, Flyers, Arizona Coyotes and Red Wings. Pickard has also appeared in 219 career AHL games since 2011-12 with the Lake Erie Monsters, San Antonio Rampage, Toronto Marlies, Tucson Roadrunners and Griffins, owning a 102-78-18 record, 2.65 goals-against average, 0.913 save percentage, 13 shutouts and a 2018 Calder Cup championship with Toronto.
Originally a second-round pick (49th overall) of the Avalanche in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Pickard signed a two-year contract with Detroit on July 1, 2019. The Moncton, New Brunswick, native is the Western Hockey League’s all-time leader in saves (7,727) and minutes (14,025), combining for a 91-120-27 record, 3.29 goals-against average, 0.909 save percentage and 12 shutouts in four seasons with the Seattle Thunderbirds (2008-12). He has also represented Canada at the 2016 and 2017 IIHF World Championships, winning a gold and silver medal, respectively.
