DETROIT PISTONS WAIVE PAUL REED, DETROIT PISTONS SIGN JAVANTE MCCOY, and Detroit Pistons, BELFOR to Unveil Renovated Detroit Fire Department Fire Station on December 17

DETROIT, Mich. (December 14, 2024) – The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has waived forward/center Paul Reed.

Reed, claimed off waivers by the Pistons on July 9, 2024, is averaging 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 12 games this season.

DETROIT, Mich. (December 15, 2024) – The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has signed guard Javante McCoy to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

McCoy, 6-5, 180, has appeared in 12 games this season for the Motor City Cruise, NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, averaging 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 26.1 minutes per game. McCoy is shooting 51.4% from 3-point range, which leads the Cruise and ranks seventh in the NBA G League (among qualified players). The Milwaukee native has appeared in 96 career NBA G League games for the South Bay Lakers, Austin Spurs and Motor City Cruise while averaging 11.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 22.8 minutes.

McCoy played collegiately at Boston University for five seasons (2017-22) holding career averages of 13.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists across 147 games (138 starts). He was named to the 2021-22 All-Patriot League First Team after leading the league in scoring with a career-high 17.4 points per game.

DETROIT PISTONS, BELFOR TO UNVEIL RENOVATED DETROIT FIRE DEPARTMENT FIRE STATION ON DECEMBER 17

DETROIT – The Detroit Pistons and BELFOR Property Restoration are unveiling renovations of the Detroit Fire Department’s Engine 17 Fire Station, located near the Henry Ford Pistons Performance Center, with a ribbon cutting event at 1 p.m. on Dec. 17.

BELFOR and the Pistons partnered to renovate Engine 17’s common area and office space, replacing donated couches and desks with new furniture, filing cabinets, paint, blinds, and wall graphics. The renovations provide a more comfortable and welcoming space for the firefighters who work there.

The DFD Engine 17 firehouse renovation is the second firehouse BELFOR and the Detroit Pistons renovated this year, with the other located at the Lincoln Park Fire Department Firehouse near the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center. Members who work at both firehouses will be invited to the Detroit Pistons’ First Responders Night presented by BELFOR on Jan. 16 at Little Caesars Arena.
