Every year, in the days leading up to the regular season home opener, the Lions and Rocket Mortgage host events throughout the community to celebrate the return of football. The Lions will have the following media opportunities surrounding 2022 Detroit Lions Season Launch Week presented by Rocket Mortgage. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 – STAFF DAY OF SERVICE AT DETROIT LIONS ACADEMY Volunteers from the Detroit Lions, Rocket Mortgage, United Way for Southeastern Michigan and Connect 313 will welcome Detroit Lions Academy (DLA) students back for another school year while celebrating Detroit Lions Season Launch Week presented by Rocket Mortgage. Volunteers will help DLA students work through computer basics and implement a new resource guide for students to expand their knowledge of the digital space with support from Human-i-t. Participants will be able to pick a key from 5 – 8 PM. Three keys will unlock the door and those participants will advance to the home opener where the ultimate $10,000 winner will be decided during the Detroit Lions versus Philadelphia Eagles game.Media are invited to Campus Martius Park to capture the Rocket Mortgage “Mini House” at 5 PM for b-roll of contestants as well as media availability with Lions. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 – RIDETROIT EVENT In partnership with RiDetroit, the Lions and Rocket Mortgage will host a downtown Detroit bike ride taking off from the stadium on Thursday night. Bikes will stage on Brush Street at 6PM. RiDetroit departs at 7PM. Riders are expected to return to Ford Field at 8PM. Food trucks, beverages and Pride Plaza activities will be available upon the return to Ford Field while DJ Ray performs.Media availability with Lions personnel will be approximately 6 – 6:30 PM at 2000 Brush St, Detroit, MI 48226. ALL WEEK – SCAVENGER HUNT Unlike in prior years, the Season Launch Week presented by Rocket Mortgage scavenger hunt will take place entirely virtually on the Detroit Lions mobile app. From Monday, September 5 – Friday, September 9, fans can upload a different photo of themselves based on that day’s prompt on the Detroit Lions mobile app. Once they upload their photo, a daily prize will be revealed. Fans that complete all five days will be entered to win two tickets to the home opener. ALL WEEK – HUDDLE ICE CREAM TRUCK COMMUNITY VISITS Huddle Soft Serve, in partnership with the Lions and Rocket Mortgage, will visit locations around Detroit in the Huddle frozen custard truck and provide free ice cream at each stop, including custom flavor Berry Sanders.
