DETROIT LIONS 2021 SEASON LAUNCH WEEK PRESENTED BY ROCKET MORTGAGE


Scheduled events include a community youth clinic, city-wide scavenger hunt and complete takeover of the Monroe Street Midway

DETROIT — The Detroit Lions today announced the return of Detroit Lions Season Launch Week presented by Rocket Mortgage. Every year, in the days leading up to the regular season home opener, the Lions and Rocket Mortgage host events throughout the community to celebrate the return of football.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 – COMMUNITY YOUTH CLINIC
Children from local community groups will participate in a Lions Football Education clinic at Ford Field on Labor Day. The clinic will provide an opportunity for children to learn directly from Lions Legends and will feature Roary and Detroit Lions Cheerleaders.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 – CITY-WIDE SCAVENGER HUNT
The Lions and Rocket Mortgage will hide 100 footballs around Detroit. Each one will have a QR code that fans can scan to receive two tickets for the home opener against the San Francisco 49ers. Hints on where to find the footballs will be posted on Lions social media accounts throughout the morning.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 – ROCKET MORTGAGE AND LIONS MONROE STREET MIDWAY TAKEOVER
The Lions and Rocket Mortgage, in partnership with Bedrock and Rocket Community Fund, will take over the Monroe Street Midway in the heart of downtown Detroit. It features the Rollout Detroit Roller Rink – which will offer free skating from 4 – 7 PM – and the Rocket Mortgage Sports Zone – where fans will be able to enjoy playing basketball and other Lions themed tailgate games. The takeover will include appearances from Lions Legends, Detroit Lions Cheerleaders, Roary and DJ Ray – the Lions official DJ – as well as face painting and tailgate games. Free skating, snack vouchers and Monroe Street Midway merchandise will be given on a first come, first served basis, with limited rink capacity and supplies.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 – WELCOME BACK LIVE MURAL PAINTING
Fine artist and muralist Phil Simpson will be painting a live mural in Pride Plaza beginning at 10:30 AM before the season opener (1 PM kickoff).
