BIRMINGHAM – After averaging 25.5 points per game and connecting on 20 field goals, Denim DeShields was named Conference USA Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
DeShields began the week by scoring a game-high 15 points, five assists and four rebounds against Florida Atlantic. She followed that with a career-high 36-point performance, including 14 field goals and eight free throws along with four assists and four rebounds versus FIU.
This is the third overall ROW honor for DeShields.
UAB (9-5, 1-4 C-USA) hits the road to face WKU (5-8, 2-2 C-USA) on Jan. 11. The next home game is Jan.15 versus LA Tech.

Discounted group tickets and fan experiences are available for a minimum purchase of 15 tickets, and fan experiences are available on a first come, first served basis to any home basketball game during the 2022-23 season.
