Denver Gets Dismantled In Detroit

By: Jeremy T. Ballreich

This past Saturday we saw Detroit play their best defensive game of the Season. And with our Oline in tact, our best offensive game as well!

Denver did not know what hit them. After the loss in Chicago, Dan Campbell said in the post game presser, he was going to have to out his ‘hands on the defense’. And the fact the playcalling, players that had been a healthy scratch, and other ‘Starters’ got benched. The defense played like a completely different unit. And actually looked like they should have played all season.

The Denver Broncos we 6-1 coming with 5 game winning streak over their last 7 games and a 7-6 record. Iffy Melifonwu with his first chance to start an entire game came up big with strip sack on Russell Wilson. Recovered by the often sat Isaiah Buggs. Who ran it down to the 37 yard line. Which set the tone the rest of the night on defense.

The Offense didn’t take hold until their 3rd drive and preceded to score on 5 straight drives crushing the will of the Broncos defense. Who hadn’t allowed 30 points since the Miami Dolphins posted 70 points on them.

My 5 Stars of the game:

5. Frank Ragnow – without him this Oline is anemic in its protections.

4. Isaiah Buggs – without his presence filling in for the injured McNeil. I doubt the defense does half this good

3 Iffy Melifonwu – 1st career start 9 tackles, 1 sack, 2 QB Hits, 2 Pass Break Ups, and a Forced Fumble. The man played possessed!

2 Jahmyr Gibbs – 11 carries 100 yards 1 TD, with another 2 catches for 8 yards and a TD. He had a game

1 Sam LaPorta – 5 receptions for 56 yards 11.2 Yards Oer Catch with 3 TDs and the Offensive Rookie Of The Week in week 15 stole the show.

The Tale Of The Tape:

The Lions absolutely destroyed the hottest team in Football at the time. Outplaying, outcoaching, and out classing the Denver Broncos!

Final Score:
DEN     17
DET      42
