Defending Ally Challenge Champion Paul Broadhurst joins Charles Schwartz Cup Leader Scott McCarron and Major Championship Winner Retief Goosen to Highlight Early Commitments to The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren

GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Tournament officials announced today that The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren defending champion Paul Broadhurst, Charles Schwab Cup leader Scott McCarron and major championship winner Retief Goosen have committed to play in the second edition of the official PGA TOUR Champions stop, scheduled for September 12–15 at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich.

Broadhurst, 53, is coming off a breakthrough PGA TOUR Champions season in 2018. His victory at The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren gave him three wins on the year, to go with five top-10 finishes and $1,513,061 in earnings, all career bests. The 2016 PGA TOUR Champions Rookie of the Year claimed The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex as his first title in just his second start on TOUR. He won his second major in May 2018 at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. The Nuneaton, England resident is currently ranked No. 12 in Charles Schwab Cup rankings on strength of five top-10 finishes, including two runner up efforts. Broadhurst will return to The Ally Challenge this September to defend his title, where he was the only player to record three rounds in the 60s during the inaugural tournament en route to a scoring average of 67 at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club.

McCarron has taken PGA TOUR Champions by storm since making his debut at The Senior Open Championship in July of 2015. Over that time, he has recorded 48 top-10 finishes, 11 wins–including his first major title at the 2017 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship–and more than $8.2 million in earnings. He has finished inside the top-4 in Charles Schwab Cup standings each year since completing his first full season on TOUR in 2016. The 54-year-old California native has continued his impressive play this season. Over 16 starts he holds the No. 1 spot in the Charles Schwab Cup ranking on strength of 10 top-10 finishes, three wins and nearly $2 million in earnings. McCarron will be making his second start at The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren next month. He finished tied for 33 in the inaugural event after sharing the lead heading into the final round. His tournament scoring average is 70.33.

Goosen, 50, is enjoying a stellar rookie PGA TOUR Champions season. He made his debut in February at the Oasis Championship with a T24 finish and has since grabbed five top-10s, more than $1 million in earnings, and sits at No. 8 in Charles Schwab Cup rankings. Goosen recorded his first PGA TOUR Champions victory and first senior major in just his 12th start on TOUR at the Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship. Since turning professional in 1990, he owns 24 international victories and seven PGA TOUR wins, including two U.S. Open Championship titles in 2001 and 2004. The South African’s resume also includes six appearances as a member of the international Presidents Cup team (2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011). Goosen will be making his first start at The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren.

The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren will be one of the premier Regular Season events on PGA TOUR Champions in 2019, which will give way to the third-annual Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs—a season-ending, three tournament series used to determine the Tour’s season-long champion.

All three rounds of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren will be broadcast on Golf Channel.
