Day One – Owls’ Bats Fall Silent

FORT Myers, Fla. – The Owls traveled to Fort Myers, Fla., a community they last visited in the fall of 2022 to assist with the aftereffects of Hurricane Ian. Their return trip brought the Owls to the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational, and the Owls fell 4-2 to Lipscomb and 5-0 to tournament host FGCU.

The Owls will next have a revenge game versus Lipscomb,on Saturday at 2:30, and will then face Boston College in the 7 p.m. slot.

GAME ONE

Four hurlers were used in the morning contest, three of whom threw from the left side. Two factored into the decision, while Lipscomb’s righty closed out the game for a Bison save.

Lipscomb scored three runs before the Owls pulled within two on a Becca Jones run scoring double, plating Oliva Peterson, who led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a Zoey Jones single. Lipscomb would get the run back in the top half of the fifth and see the Owls challenge again with a Cammeo Presutti leadoff triple, but was held to just one run.
