Davis Named USBWA Oscar Robertson Trophy and All-America Watch List

INDIANAPOLIS – Johnell Davis of the Florida Atlantic men’s basketball team has been named to the 2023-24 Oscar Robertson Trophy and All-America Watch List, announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday. Davis is one of 40 players who will be considered a contender for National Player of the Year.
The All-America team will be announced before the start of the men’s NCAA Tournament, while The Oscar Robertson Trophy winner for National Player of the Year is to be announced at the NCAA Men’s Final Four in Glendale, Ariz., from April 6-8.
It is yet another well-deserved accolade for the junior guard from Gary, Indiana, who is a top 10 candidate for the Jerry West Award (given to the best shooting guard in the nation), top 20 candidate for the Wooden Award (given to the best player in Division I college basketball), and a is member of the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Midseason Team. In addition to three He also earned the weekly Oscar Robertson Trophy award given on December 27 following his 35-point performance in the Owls’ double overtime victory over the No. 4 ranked Arizona on December 23.
With a career-best campaign, Davis has helped guide the Owls in their first season in the American Athletic Conference to a 21-7 record, tied for the second most wins in a season in program history.
Davis leads Florida Atlantic in points, rebounds, and assists on an average of 18.3 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists with 48% shooting from the field and 44% from beyond the arc.
