TAMPA, March 17, 2019 – USF softball shut out the reigning American Athletic Conference tournament champion Tulsa behind a 16-strikeout performance from Georgina Corrick, and a walk-off grand slam in the eighth inning by Macy Cook.

Sophomore Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) owned the first inning, catching three swinging to start off the game strong, despite a pair of hits. The British National Team pitcher didn’t let up in eight frames, fanning a single-game career high 16 batters in the league-opener, with at least one strikeout in each inning and no walks for her 12th straight win. USF got the leadoff batter out in all but one inning, five times with a strikeout swinging.

The Bulls (23-12) outhit Tulsa (19-9) 9-5 in the shutout win, scattering seven singles, a double and a homerun. USF had a few chances in regulation play including a double by junior Kelsey Lay (West Palm Beach, Fla.), however, the Golden Hurricane stranded six Bulls throughout the game

Tied at 0-0 in the bottom of the eighth with one out, back-to-back singles by freshman Meghan Sheehan (Forest Hill, Md.) a senior Lindsey Devitt (Jacksonville, Fla.), and an error that put redshirt sophomore Bethaney Keen (Bradenton, Fla.) on first, loaded the bases with Bulls.
