Corrick Throws Fourth Perfect Game in USF Softball History

Corrick allowed zero baserunners – while striking out eight – as she threw her first career perfect game

TAMPA, Fla., March 6, 2022 – University of South Florida pitcher Georgina Corrick has had quite the week.

On Wednesday, she broke the USF single-game strikeouts record with 19 against FGCU while also claiming the program’s career shutouts record with her 38th such effort. On Saturday, she threw 12 strikeouts, surpassing the millennium milestone, only the second pitcher in team history to do it.

Then on Sunday, Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) achieved perfection for the first time in her career, and the fourth time in program history, by sitting down 15 consecutive batters without allowing a baserunner.

In chase of perfection, Corrick struck out eight batters and threw just 56 pitches. The win marked her 13th on the season and her ERA has dropped to 0.08 on the season, allowing just one earned run in 87.1 innings in the circle. She’s now gone 57.2 innings without a run and 63.2 without an earned run crossing the plate.

Corrick’s masterpiece wasn’t the only highlight of the game. The No. 24 Bulls (17-3) exploded on offense for nine runs in posting the run-rule, shutout victory over Florida A&M on the last day of the weekend tournament.

The Bulls started their attack in the second inning, with Josie Foreman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) scoring on a single from Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel).

South Florida broke the game open in the third with seven runners scoring in the frame. Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers, Fla.) started the rally with a triple that scored Meghan Sheehan (Forest Hill, Md.). Madison Epperson (Tampa) singled home Ponn to push the Bulls’ lead to 3-0. Later in the inning, Foreman doubled home Megan Pierro (Lutz) and Courtney Waldo (Palmetto, Fla.), followed by a three-RBI double off the bat of Sheehan that made USF’s advantage 8-0.

The Bulls added an insurance run and ended the scoring in the fourth, as Epperson was forced home when Emilee Hanlon (Dunkirk, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch.
