Corrick Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

The junior was named to the District 4 first team for her on- and off-the-field accomplishments


TAMPA, May 14, 2020 — USF junior pitcher Georgina Corrick was named to CoSIDA’s Division I Academic All-District First Team for District 4, the organization announced on Thursday.
 
The 2020 Academic All-District Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 8-11.
 
Nominees for the award must have a grade-point average that exceeds 3.30, while also being a starter or significant reserve for their team. District 4 is composed of universities from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and South Carolina.

Corrick, a marine biology major, has been named to the American Athletic Conference’s All-Academic team every year she has been on campus. She also has been a USF Athletics Honor Roll honoree every semester she has been on campus.
 
The Sanford, Fla., native continued her dominance in the shortened 2020 season. In 97.1 innings pitched, Corrick had a 1.29 ERA and had tallied 127 strikeouts. She tied the USF single-game record with 18 strikeouts against Wisconsin on March 7 while also hitting two game-winning home runs during the campaign. The junior was named The American’s Pitcher of the week three times, including after she threw six innings in USF’s 27th no-hitter against FIU on Feb. 21. Corrick also earned national honors during the season, being named the Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week after her record-breaking weekend at the USF Tournament.
 
In her career, Corrick has amassed 483 innings in the circle with a 1.36 ERA and 551 strikeouts. She has also thrown 41 complete games and 19 shutouts. In the program record books, Corrick currently ranks fifth in strikeouts, fifth in shutouts, sixth in victories (52), and 10th in innings pitched.
