Georgina Corrick reached 20 wins with an undefeated weekend in the circle against UConn, 2-0
PROVIDENCE, R.I., April 22, 2019 – Sophomore pitcher Georgina Corrick went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA against UConn, earning her fifth American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honor this season. Senior Macy Cook was named to the honor roll for highlighting the Bulls offense.
Corrick pitched two complete games and also recorded a save in game two of the series. She pitched 14.2 innings total, not allowing a single run to cross home. She walked just one batter over the weekend and struck out 28, to reach and surpass 200 strikeouts this season.
With her 209 strikeouts in her sophomore campaign so far, she ranks eighth in program history in a single-season. She now has 373 career strikeouts, placing her at ninth in the career strikeout records as a sophomore. With the two shutout wins, Corrick is also tied for eighth in career shutouts (11). She also recorded her 20th win of the season and has held opponents to just three runs in her last 62.2 innings pitched.
Cook (Uniontown, Ohio) batted .300 for the Bulls against UConn. She caught all 21 innings over the weekend, went 3-for-10, and recorded four RBI. She hit an RBI single in the first game, a two-run homer in the second and a groundout that scored one in the second. She had one multi-hit game and a .600 slugging percentage.
