Coral Springs to host Cypress Pool Cinema

Coral Springs will host an inaugural Cypress Pool Cinema on Saturday, October 2, 2021. The feature film is family-favoriteDisney’s Moana. The event is open to Coral Springs residents only and admission is free.

“Just like the launch of Family Fun Night, Parks and Recreation staff are working hard to provide residents with new, innovative, and fun activities for families to enjoy, says Rob Hunter, Parks and Recreation Director. “Our inaugural Cypress Pool Cinema is one of many events we have on the horizon that bring people together, while enjoying the amenities within our parks.”

Residents can bring lawn chairs, blankets, and single person inflatable floats. Pets, coolers, and outside food is prohibited; a limited selection of concessions will be available for purchase onsite.

The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. at Cypress Pool (1300 Coral Springs Drive.) Doors open at 6 p.m. and the feature film starts at 7 p.m. Due to space limitations, residents must pre-register.

Coral Springs recognized by Telly Awards

From David Volz

During the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of the challenges faced, the City of Coral Springs Communications and Marketing Department continued to develop, create, and produce impactful and award-winning video content that has once again been nationally recognized.

The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television content, with judges representing leaders in entertainment, advertising, and emerging technology. The City of Coral Springs is excited to announce that it has once again been recognized with The Telly Awards, not for one outstanding video, but for three outstanding video submissions and series.

“The ability to actively engage and inform through visual storytelling was even more impactful as we navigated a global pandemic,” said Lynne Martzall, Director of Communications and Marketing.

Telly Awards were received for the following categories:

  • Social Impact Series: Conversations with a Commissioner
  • Public Service & Activism: Safety Town
  • Non-Broadcast: 9-1-1 Telecommunicator Recruitment
  • Vice Mayor Joshua Simmons, who hosted the video series, said, “The development and production of these videos were an insightful way to promote open dialogue about police operations, policies and the challenges faced by those who serve our communities. It was truly a ground-breaking approach to inspire constructive conversations about tough topics.”

Martzall added, “When our city was faced with the cancellation of Safety Town, a popular 30+ year child safety public education program, the development of a video series ensured its continuation, albeit remotely. And our commitment to recruiting the best and the brightest through a call-to-action video, was an innovative approach to recruitment for telecommunications. I am incredibly proud of the creativity and talent of our team.”
