Coral Springs to honor the 20th Anniversary of September 11

From David Volz

The City of Coral Springs will remember the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on our nation with a ceremony in front of the 9/11 monument located at the Northwest Regional Library at 3151 North University Drive. Residents are invited to attend to honor the victims and heroes at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 11th.

The ceremony will include a pathway of remembrance flags, performances by the Coral Springs Charter School band and Coral Springs Fire Department Pipes and Drums; and special messages from a variety of speakers. A wreath will be placed at the monument for those who wish to visit during the September 11th weekend. In addition, Sea of Flags will be on display at the Great Lawn of City Hall for residents to visit.

Gina Orlando, who has organized 9/11 commemorations in Coral Springs since the tragedy, said, “Planning this year’s remembrance is more heartfelt as we pause to reflect and remember what occurred to our country 20 years ago. Organizing events to remember the victims and honor the many heroes who gave their lives to save others, is something I have been so proud to have been a part of for the last two decades. Coral Springs continues their commitment to Never Forget.”

The Northwest Regional Library is located at 3151 N. University Drive, just south of Sample Road.
