Comeback Effort Falls Short in UAB’s 85-79 Loss at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE –
UAB’s 4th quarter comeback came up short in its 85-79 loss at Charlotte on Monday afternoon.

Denim DeShields led UAB (7-2, 0-1 C-USA) with 14 points and a career-high 11 assists. Lyndsey Robson added 17 points along with Maria Roters’ 14.

The 49ers led from wire-to-wire, scoring the first seven points of the game. After building a double-figure lead early in the 2nd quarter, the Blazers were able to make it a two-possession game heading into halftime at 37-32.

An and-1 by DeShields opened the 3rd quarter scoring, getting UAB within a basket, but Charlotte would control the rest of the quarter, outscoring the Blazers 26-13.
