CDC extension on rent moratorium and tax holiday, Hollywood determining location for new police headquarters, and possible rain date for 4th of July Fireworks in Pompano

CDC extension on rent moratorium and tax holiday

On June 24, 2021, the CDC extended the eviction moratorium for a month. The extension until July 31 is to help the millions of tenants who are unable to make their rent payments due to the pandemic. Roughly 3.2 million people in the United States may face eviction in the next two months, so this extension comes as a relief to many across the country and in our district, according to Florida Rep. Christine Hunschofsky, District 96.The Florida Legislature passed a tax package that included three sales tax holidays this year. One of those holidays is the Freedom Week Sales Tax Holiday which begins on July 1 and runs through Wednesday, July 7, 2021. It’s a great way to celebrate the week of Independence Day. The tax holiday includes items in areas such camping supplies, admission to sports and cultural and music events, items for watersports and diving and general outdoor equipment.

Hollywood governments is determining exact location for new police headquarters

The City of Hollywood is continuing to develop plans for its new police headquarters. Money to pay for the construction of the station will come from a general obligation bond that was approved by Hollywood’s residents.
Now, city leaders are in the process of determining exactly where the headquarters will be placed. It will be placed next to the Orangebrook Golf and Country Club but exactly where is now under discussion. Some residents are concerned that the station will take up too much of the land in and around the golf course. There are plans to improve the golf course as well and regardless of where the police headquarters is placed, there will be plenty of golf at Orangebrook.
Pompano Beach may have a rain date for Fourth of July fireworks
