C-USA Football: Nine Players on FWAA Freshman All-America Watch List

DALLAS – The Football Writers Association of America has released its first 2020 FWAA Freshman All-American Watch List.  Conference USA is represented by nine players from seven different schools, with UAB and UTSA each placing two rookie standouts on the list, while Charlotte, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee and UTEP each have one.

DL – Christian Clayton (RS) – UTSA – 6-2 – 300 – Fort Worth, Texas
 
LB – Tyler Grubbs – Louisiana Tech – 6-1 – 221 – New Orleans, La.
 
LB – Jamal Ligon – UTSA – 6-3 – 245 – Tyler, Texas
 
DB – Quincy Riley (RS) – Middle Tennessee – 6-0 – 188 – Columbia, S.C.
 
K – Matt Quinn (RS) – UAB – 5-10 – 175 – Spanish Fort, Ala.
 
This year’s FWAA Freshman All-American team will represent the 20th since its inception,  It will feature a list of seven semifinalists and three finalists later this season leading up to the unveil of the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year.
