DALLAS – Conference USA announced Friday the remaining four games of its 2019-20 women’s basketball conference schedule.
UAB will host Rice and Southern Miss and travel to UTSA and Old Dominion for the final four games of the regular season.
The Blazers will face preseason favorite Rice at Bartow Arena on Saturday, Feb. 22 at a time to be determined later. It will be the second time in the month of February that UAB plays the Owls as they are already set to travel to Houston on Feb. 6.
UAB will make the trip to San Antonio to face UTSA on Saturday, Feb. 29. The Blazers have won four of six games against the Roadrunners including the last two contests, both of which were in San Antonio. The Green and Gold host UTSA for Education Day on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. CST.
Next, the Blazers will travel to Norfolk, Va. to take on Old Dominion on Thursday, March 5. The Monarchs are off to a league leading 8-2 start on the season. UAB will host Old Dominion in the second game of C-USA play in the beginning of January.
UAB will close the regular season at home against Southern Miss on Saturday, March 7. The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 40-21. The Blazers won the last meeting between the two schools 71-60 in January of last season.
The new schedule format was passed by the league’s Athletics Directors in May and Board of Directors during their annual summer meetings in June. The 18-game conference slate follows the same format as the men’s basketball traditional layout for the first 14 games, with consideration for competitive balance and geographical constraints determined for the remaining four games. The layout was constructed to provide competitive matchups at the end of the regular season with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of C-USA teams advancing to the postseason competition.
Game times and TV information will be determined at a later date and updated on the athletics website accordingly.
