3/15/2024 | No. 16 Women’s Beach Volleyball BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team opened up play in the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational on Friday, falling in a pair of hard-fought battles against No. 5 TCU, 3-2, and No. 1 USC, 5-0. NO. 16 FLORIDA ATLANTIC 2 – No. 5 TCU 3 TCU scored first to take a 1-0 lead as Logan Mignerey and Alivia Orvieto dropped a two-set battle against TCU’s Anete Namike and Ana Vergara, 21-16, 21-17. The Sandy Owls tied things up at 1-1 on court five. Mikayla Law-Heese and Olivia Strandberg defeated the Horned Frogs’ Keagan Polk/Hallie Corinne Frist, 23-21, 21-16. The Horned Frogs retook the lead 2-1 after securing a two-setter on court one, as Courtney Moon and Marketa Svozilova fell 21-15, 21-16 against TCU’s Anhelina Khmil and Hailey Hamlett. Florida Atlantic evened things up once more at two, capturing a two-set win on court three. Julie Honzovicova and Kate McLaughlin defeated Josie Sek and Tara Patton, 21-18, 21-17. The Sandy Owls battled until the very end on court two as Ashleigh Adams and Sloane Woolwine looked to rally to a two-set reverse sweep, but came up just short, falling against TCU’s Alex Parkhurst and Sutton MacTavish, 18-21, 21-15, 15-12.Scores 1. The Trojans won their second point on court five. TCU’s Ainsley Radell and Mabyn Thomas defeated the Sandy Owls’ Mikayla Law-Heese and Olivia Strandberg in three sets, 19-21, 21-18, 15-13. The Horned Frogs clinched the match on court one as Courtney Moon and Marketa Svozilova fell in straight sets against TCU’s Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple, 21-12, 21-13. TCU extended their lead to four after Grace Seits and Maddi Kriz captured a two-set win over Julie Honzovicova and Kate McLaughlin, 21-16, 21-14.
