BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 15 Florida Atlantic Owls (9-4) split against No. 4 Florida State (13-0), 0-5, and FGCU (9-7, 2-2 ASUN), 3-2, during the Sandy Owls’ home-opening Capri Classic on Tuesday.

Florida State scored the opening point, as the Seminoles’ Caitlin Moon and Kaeli Crews defeated Alivia Orvieto and Logan Mignerey, 21-12, 21-14 on court five. Florida State’s Anna Long and Alexis Durish extended the Florida State lead to 2-0 after taking a two-setter on court four over the Sandy Owls’ Mikayla Law-Heese and Olivia Strandberg, 21-14, 23-21. The Seminoles clinched the match on court two as Julie Honzovicova and Kate McLaughlin fell against Florida State’s Raelyn White and Audrey Koenig, 21-10, 21-15. Florida State won their fourth match on court three as the Ashleigh Adams and Sloane Woolwine fell in a two-set battle against the Seminoles’ Carra Sassack and Alli Hansen, 21-18, 21-16. The Seminoles closed out the match with their fifth win on court one as Courtney Moon and Marketa Svozilova fell in straight-sets, 21-17, 21-17 against Florida State’s Maddie Anderson and Skyler Germann.Scores

FGCU scored first as the Eagles’ Jacqueline Carpenter and Mia Thompson defeated Alivia Orvieto and Logan Mignerey, 21-12, 22-20. Florida Atlantic evened things up at one apiece on court four after Mikayla Law-Heese and Olivia Strandberg took a three-setter against FGCU’s Lilly Hafner and Sydney Majick, 21-15, 19-21, 15-5. The Sandy Owls then took the lead 2-1 as Ashleigh Adams and Sloane Wooline earned a straight-set victory against the Eagles’ Kaitlyn Luebbers and Nicole De Oliveira on court three, 22-20, 21-14. FGCU brought the match even once again at 2-2 after capturing a two-set win on court two as Kacie Johnson and Emma Soncrant defeated Julie Honzovicova and Kate McLaughlin, 21-19, 22-20.
