Bulls Wrap Up Season at UConn and Temple

TAMPA, Nov. 13, 2019 – The USF volleyball team hits the road to close out the 2019 season, facing UConn on Thursday, followed by a matchup against Temple on Saturday.

USF (7-21, 1-13) wrapped up the home portion of their schedule this past weekend. The Bulls fought hard inside The Corral but dropped both matches against UConn and Temple.

Thursday’s matchup against the Huskies will mark the 21st meeting between the programs, with the Bulls looking to improve on a 10-11 all-time record. USF will face Temple on Saturday for the 21st time, with the Bulls leading the series, 14-7.

Last week, Ally Barnhart (Lenexa, Kan.) tied her career-high with 10 kills against ECU. Madison Bragan (Tampa, Fla.) also tied her career high with two service aces.

Senior Jac’cara Walker (Gainsville, Fla.) played a factor in the match against ECU last Sunday. Walker earned her 10th double-double of the season, finishing with 11 kills and 11 digs.

Lauren LaBeck (Chicago, Ill.) currently sits in the seventh spot for assists with 332 in The American. LaBeck is also closing in on the top 10 for aces, where she sits in 13th with 27.

UCONN (11-15, 5-9 American)

UConn swept the sixth week of conference play with a four-set win over Temple (Nov. 8). The Huskies finished off the weekend sweep with a five-set victory over Houston (Nov. 10).

UConn is led offensively by sophomore Caylee Parker, who has recorded 305 kills this season. Genna Florig leads the Huskies with 88 blocks.

TEMPLE (14-7, 2-12 American)

The Owls head into the weekend after falling to UConn (Nov. 8) and Tulane (Nov. 10) in four sets during the sixth week of conference play.

Sophomore outside hitter Gem Grimshaw, who has recorded 213 kills, leads Temple offensively. Junior libero Averi Salvador leads the Owls with 392 digs and has posted 13 service aces.

  • Head coach Courtney Draper is three wins away from capturing 120 victories with South Florida.
  • Lindsey Pliapol (Daytona Beach, Fla.) leads the offense with 310 kills and is third in digs with 210.
