Bulls Wrap Up Non-Conference Schedule Saturday Against Wofford

TAMPA, FLA., DEC. 11, 2020 – The USF men’s basketball team takes part in its final non-conference game of the season Saturday at 2:30 p.m. when the Bulls travel to Atlanta, Ga., to face Wofford in the Holiday Hoopsgiving quadrupleheader at State Farm Arena.

USF (3-2) turned in a 73-62 victory over Stetson on Tuesday for its second straight win. Senior guard David Collins (Youngstown, Ohio) scored a game-high 18 points and tied his career high with nine rebounds. Collins begins the weekend leading USF with 13.4 points per game while standing third in The American with a .556 three-point field goal percentage.

Justin Brown (Atlanta) added 14 points, four rebounds and made three 3-pointers against the Hatters to move into seventh place on the USF all-time career three-pointers made list. Brown needs four more treys to leapfrog Brian Swift and Derrick Sharp for fifth place.

Redshirt junior Alexis Yetna (Paris) fell just shy of a double-double against Stetson with 13 points and eight rebounds. Yetna also knocked down a pair of triples and currently ranks tops in The American with a .615 three-point field goal percentage. Overall, Yetna averages 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and is shooting 59.4 percent from the field.

THE OPPONENT
Wofford (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season on Monday when the Terriers fell 77-72 at No. 19 Richmond. Wofford led by five with 2:18 left in the game, but Richmond used a 12-2 run to close the game to earn the victory. Despite the loss, the Terriers average 90.3 points and 47.3 rebounds per game and are shooting 54.5 percent from the field through three games this season.

Senior guard Storm Murphy leads the Wofford offense with 18.7 points per game and has a team-best 11 assists. Sophomore forward Messiah Jones adds 15.3 points and a team-high 9.0 rebounds per game, while senior guard Tray Hollowell also scores in double figures with 14.7 points per game.

The USF men’s basketball team is led by head coach Brian Gregory. On March 22, 2017, Gregory was introduced as the 10th head coach in program history. He previously led programs at Georgia Tech (2011-16) and Dayton (2003-11).
