Bulls Sign Five-Star Recruit Brabencova to NLI

USF women’s basketball welcomes Czech Republic product Kristyna Brabencova, a five-star recruit by BlueStar Europe and PassionHoops, to the 2019 signing class.

TAMPA, APRIL 18, 2019 – Head coach Jose Fernandez and USF women’s basketball welcomes Kristyna Brabencova, a five-star recruit by BlueStar Europe and PassionHoops, to the 2019 signing class.

USF received a National Letter of Intent from Brabencova, a six-foot wing from Brno, Czech Republic, on Wednesday afternoon. The high profile European sharpshooter will join ­the Bulls as a freshman in 2019-2020.

Brabencova competed at a high level with Euroleague team USK Praha, which finished third in the top league in Europe.

She will compete in the FIBA U-20 Women’s European Championship with her national team, Czech Republic, this summer. Bulls teammates Elisa Pinzan (Italy), Luize Septe (Latvia) and Beatriz Jordao (Portugal) will also join her in the competition with their respective national teams. 

In 2017 in the FIBA U-18 Women’s European Championship, Brabencova and her team finished in fourth place while she averaged 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists in seven games. 
 
“We are very excited about Kristyna joining our program,” Fernandez said. “She is a great fit for our athletic department on and off the floor. She has competed at a high level internationally, and we look forward to what she will bring to our team. Maria (Alvarez), who we signed in the early signing period, and Kristyna will bolster our perimeter play and depth.”


Brabencova joins Maria Alvarez (Bal Harbour, Fla.) as signees to Fernandez’s 2019 signing class.
