Bulls in the Pros: Two More Promotions of Former USF Arms

McClanahan gets called up to Double-A; Strzelecki gets called up in the Brewers organization


TAMPA, AUG. 5, 2019 – 
After spending two years in the same weekend rotation for the USF baseball team, Shane McClanahan and Peter Strzelecki get called up around the same time with their respective teams.  

McClanahan to Montgomery 
Less than a week after righty Phoenix Sanders was called up to Triple-A in the Rays’ organization, 2018 first -selection Shane McClanahan made the jump to the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits. He struck out nine and walked none in 5.0 innings on Aug. 2, and got moved up from the A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs over the weekend. McClanahan was stellar in his quick return to Florida. In nine appearances (eight starts), he went 6-1 with a 1.46 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 49.1 innings. McClanahan issued just eight walks and struck out 19 in his last two outings. 


Strzelecki Advances to A-Advanced

Also in the same weekend rotation as Sanders and McClanahan while in Tampa, Strzelecki got called up by the Brewers over the weekend, moving to the A-Advanced Carolina Mudcats. Strzelecki had a 3.22 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 44.2 innings with the A-Full Season the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He made his debut in Carolina on Saturday, tossing a perfect innings with a strikeout.
