Bulls Headed to Tallahassee in 15th NCAA Appearance

DATE: May 12, 2019

After an impressive regular season and the American Athletic Conference automatic bid, USF punched its ticket to Tallahassee, Fla., for its 15th NCAA Appearance

TAMPA, MAY 12, 2019 – The USF softball team is headed to the Tallahassee regional for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, its sixth appearance in the last eight years. The Bulls will face South Carolina on Friday, May 17. Time to still to be announced.

This season marks the 15th time in program history that the Bulls have made it to the NCAA tournament, and the 14th appearance under head coach Ken Eriksen. Of those appearances, four previous regionals have been at Florida State.

“So happy to be going to a place where our fans can come up and support us,” said Eriksen. “We are familiar with the surroundings, so we aren’t going in with any kind of surprises.”

The Bulls (40-17) earned an at-large bid to the tournament after dominating The American with five straight sweeps and a 17-4 league record, the highest in conference history. USF won its quarterfinal game in the American Athletic Conference Championship in a walk-off, run-rule victory where The American Pitcher of the Year Georgina Corrick tossed a one-hitter, the lowest hits in a tournament game in The American. Top-seeded USF, The American Regular Season Champions, picked up the conference’s automatic qualifier when the tournament was canceled due to patterns of inclement weather in Houston.
