Bulls Go 13 Innings in 30th Win of the Season, Shut out UCF

USF shut out UCF in extra innings in game one of the War on I-4 for its 30th win this season, seventh straight conference win

ORLANDO, April 12, 2019 – USF remained undefeated in extra-innings with a 13-frame, 2-0, War on I-4 victory, the Bulls’ seventh straight win in conference play.

The Bulls (30-15, 8-2) took down the Knights (28-12, 7-3) in game one of the War on I-4 series, battling through 12 scoreless innings before USF got on the board with a two-run homer, the only runs of the game.

In the top of the 13th inning, senior Lindsey Devitt (Jacksonville, Fla.) hit a double to right center with one out. A popup followed, but redshirt sophomore Bethaney Keen (Bradenton, Fla.) brought the power with a two-out, two-run blast that soared over the right field fence.

Sophomore pitcher Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) was a hero for the Bulls, pitching all thirteen innings. She tossed 165 pitches, faced 47 batters and struck out ten in the Bulls win, walking just one. She reached her 17th victory and didn’t allow a single run to cross home with the help of her stellar defense.

Corrick’s 13 innings officially match USF’s individual single-game record of innings pitched. She holds the record alongside USF Hall of Fame honorees, Sara Nevins (vs. DePaul, 2013) and Monica Triner (vs. Maryland, 1999).
