Bulls Fall to Tulsa, 3-1, in Series Finale

USF dropped its first conference series with a 3-1 loss to Tulsa on Sunday afternoon

TAMPA, March 24, 2019 – USF started the weekend strong with a shutout win over Tulsa, but ultimately dropped the series with a 3-1 loss in the finale Sunday afternoon.

USF (23-14, 1-2) was first to get on the board with a Riley Gore (West Palm Beach, Fla.) homer over the fence at left center in the bottom of the second inning. Tulsa (21-9, 2-1) responded in the next frame, scoring one on a fielder’s choice and a pair of singles to tie it up, 1-1.

The Bulls and the Golden Hurricane remained tied until the top of fifth inning when Tulsa singled and USF intentionally walked a batter with two outs. The Golden Hurricane scored with a single up the middle, and USF utilized six players to end the inning on a pickle. In the final frame, Tulsa tacked on one more run with a double and a sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead.

USF was able to get the tying runners on base in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs, but the Bulls couldn’t score. Sophomore Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) pitched 6.2 innings and fanned four. She registered her first loss in 13 appearances, second this season for a 12-2 record.
