Bulls Fall in AAC Championship Game

South Florida couldn’t contain an offensive surge by UCF

GREENVILLE, N.C., May 14, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team lost in the American Athletic Conference Championship game to UCF, 11-0.

Central Florida jumped out to an early lead. Shannon Doherty hit a three-run home run then another run scored on an error to put the Knights up 4-0.

The Bulls loaded the bases in the top of the second, but UCF got a pair of outs to defuse the threat before USF could plate a run.

UCF added another three runs on another homer in the bottom of the second to take a 7-0 lead, then another four in the fourth to earn the 11-0 win.

Alexis Johns (Sarasota, Fla.), Dezarae Maldonado (Winter Haven, Fla.) and Meghan Sheehan (Forest Hill, Md.) were named to the AAC All-Tournament team for their efforts throughout the weekend.
