Bulls Earn GCAA All-Academic Team Honors

USF men’s golf receives more recognition for its success in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year.

TAMPA, JULY 24, 2020 – USF men’s golf continued to be recognized for achieving success in the classroom on Thursday, when the Bulls received an All-Academic Team award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

To be eligible for the award, college programs had to post a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 academic year.

Head coach Steve Bradley’s Bulls finished 2019-20 with a cumulative team GPA of 3.31 after setting a program record with a 3.54 GPA in the spring term. The entire team earned spots on the USF Athletics Honor Roll in addition to senior Kyle Flexsenhar and sophomores Albin Bergstrom, Luke Gifford and Massimo Mbetse being named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the GCAA. Flexsenhar received his bachelor’s degree in business management in spring 2020.

USF men’s golf also received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA in May for earning a perfect multi-year score of 1,000 in the most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) compilation.

“One of the things we always talk about is compete in everything you do, whether it’s on the golf course, in the classroom, or in the weight room,” Bradley said. “That’s an environment we’re trying to foster and we want the guys to understand and grab ahold of that.”
