Bulls Announce AAC Basketball Schedule

TAMPA, SEPT. 20, 2019 – Third-year head coach Brian Gregory and the USF men’s basketball team finalized the 2019-20 schedule on Friday with the announcement of an 18-game American Athletic Conference slate. 

The Bulls will be featured on national television in all 18 games during conference play through the league’s partnership with ESPN and CBS Sports Network. Fans can also access all 31 games on Bulls Unlimited, the exclusive home for USF men’s basketball.

“Our league has always been one of the top basketball conferences in the NCAA and this season will be no different,” USF head coach Brian Gregory said. “We’re excited to have so many premier league games on national television and at the Yuengling Center. It’s also a huge benefit to our fans that we’ll have five weekend conference games as well.”

USF opens league play on New Year’s Day with a trip to Dallas to face SMU on ESPNU at 5 p.m. before returning to Tampa to host UConn on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. The Bulls head back on the road Tuesday, Jan. 7 for a clash at ECU (ESPN3) and then welcome Memphis to the Yuengling Center for a premier matchup on ESPN2.

USF will play three of its next four games away from home, as the Bulls make trips to UCF (Jan. 18) for the War on I-4, Houston (Jan. 26) and Tulane (Jan. 29). Sandwiched in between, USF plays host to 2019 NIT Final Four participant Wichita State on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. on ESPNEWS. 

The Bulls begin the month of February at home with the second edition of the War on I-4 against in-state rival UCF (Feb. 1) at 4 p.m. on ESPNU. USF next travels to Memphis for a second showdown with the Tigers on Saturday, Feb. 8 on CBS Sports Network at 4 p.m. at the FedEx Forum. 

A two-game homestand thereafter pits USF against 2019 NCAA Sweet 16 participant Houston (Feb. 12) and Tulsa (Feb. 15) prior to back-to-back road trips to Wichita State (Feb. 20) and UConn (23). The Bulls close the month of February at home against ECU on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3. 

The final road trip of the season sends USF to Philadelphia to take on Temple on Sunday, March 1 at 12 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The Bulls put the finishing touches on the regular season at home against Cincinnati (March 3) at 7 p.m. on ESPNU and SMU (March 7) for Senior Day on ESPN3 at 7 p.m.. 

The 2019-20 American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship is scheduled for March 12-15 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

USF opens the regular season Tuesday, Oct. 29 with an exhibition game against St. Leo at 7 p.m. at the Yuengling Center.

About USF Men’s Basketball
The USF men’s basketball team is led by head coach Brian Gregory. On March 22, 2017, Gregory was introduced as the 10th head coach in program history. He previously led programs at Georgia Tech (2011-16) and Dayton (2003-11). Gregory spent nearly a decade as an assistant coach under Michigan State’s Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo and helped the Spartans win the 2000 NCAA National Championship. Gregory owns nearly 250 career head coaching wins and six postseason appearances, including the 2010 NIT Championship. In his second season at the helm of the Bulls, Gregory led the team to the best win turnaround in the NCAA, the most single-season wins in school history and the 2019 College Basketball Invitational championship. 

USF has retired three numbers in its 47-year history: Chucky Atkins (12), Charlie Bradley (30) and Radenko Dobras (31). The Bulls have earned three NCAA tournament bids, appeared in the NIT eight times and won the 2019 College Basketball Invitational.
