Bulls Add Eight in NCAA Late Signing Period; 17 Players Comprise 2020 Class

USF added six offensive and two defensive players in the Late Period

TAMPA, FLA., FEB. 5, 2020 – Head coach Jeff Scott added eight more student-athletes to the USF roster Wednesday when the NCAA Late Signing Period began, bringing his first Bulls signing class to 17.

USF added six signees on offense and two on defense Wednesday to give the Bulls 10 total signees on the offensive side of the ball and seven on defense in the 2020 class.

“It’s an exciting day today,” Scott said. “The first signing in December happened really fast and we are excited about that group of young men that became Bulls on that day. A few of them were able to enroll early in January and are already here going through our strength and conditioning program. Then the eight young men that joined us today, we are awfully excited about.”

Among the Late Period signees were a pair of quarterbacks, including Katravis Marsh (Miami), who led Miami Central to the 6A state title, and Jordan Smith (Lake City), who passed for 2,665 yards and 27 touchdowns as a senior. They join quarterback Cade Fortin (Suwanee, Ga.), who became a Bull in the Early Period as a transfer from North Carolina.

The Bulls also added a pair of big offensive linemen in Tampa product Cesar Reyes (6-5, 300) and Charlotte, N.C. native Uriah Greene (6-3, 290), as well as some receiving weapons in 6-5, 175-pound wide receiver Sincere Brown (Charleston, S.C.) and 6-4, 204-pound tight end Holden Willis (Greenback, Tenn.). Brown totaled 53 receptions for 1,210 yards and a 22.8 yards per catch average, the second highest in the state, in a senior campaign that also saw him record two interceptions as a safety and return one for a touchdown. Meanwhile, Willis earned Tennessee Class 1A Mr. Football honors after catching 73 passes for 1,704 yards and a state record 28 touchdowns. They join three offensive weapons signed in the early period in wide receiver Omarion Dollison (Columbia, S.C.) and running backs Brian Battie (Sarasota) and Darrian Felix (Fort Myers), a transfer from Oregon.

“I’m just really proud of our staff,” Scott said. “Getting everybody together in January, it was a quick recruiting season. Big picture wise coming into the program, we really wanted to create our identity with the right type of culture. One of the quickest ways to maybe change your culture and get it to exactly where you want as a head coach and coaching staff is the people you bring into the culture and the work ethic that they have, the character, integrity and foundation they have. There’s some talented guys in this class, some that I think may have an opportunity to help us next year. But, bottom line, the type of young men we have added into our locker room is what I’m most excited about with this class.”

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulls added a pair of Late Period additions in linebacker Le’Vontae Camiel (Lake City) and defensive end Tramel Logan (Miami). Camiel is a two-time second-team all-state selection who logged 73 tackles and 11.0 tackles for loss as a senior, while Logan helped lead Booker T. Washington High School to the Class 4A state title with a defense that gave up just 15.1 points per game.

They join five defensive signees from the Early Period, including defensive backs AJ Hamilton (Dunnellon), Mac Harris (The Villages), Ben Knox (DeLand) and Chris Townsel (Deerfield Beach) and defensive tackle Sione Tuitupou (Hawaii), who arrives from East Los Angeles College.

The Bulls are set to begin spring practice on March 10, with the Spring Game set for Sat., April 18.
