Buete, O’Hara Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

BIRMINGHAM – UAB’s men’s soccer’s Joseph Buete and Aodhán O’Hara have been named to the Academic All-District 4 Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Both are candidates for Academic All-America®, which will be announced in July.

Buete has a 3.91 GPA while majoring in finance. He is a C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll member and has been awarded the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal.

O’Hara has a 3.87 GPA in psychology and has been named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll as well as being awarded the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal.

Buete and O’Hara were tied for the UAB’s team lead in both goals and points during the 2020-21 season.

This marks the first time since 2016 a UAB men’s soccer’s student-athlete has earned a place on a CoSIDA All-District Team. This also is the first time since 2008 that two men’s soccer student-athletes have been named to a CoSIDA All-District Team.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 4 includes teams in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
