Bucs fall to the Saints

By Byron Richmond

New Orleans came into the pirates cove a peeved off team after losing the previous week to the then 1-9 Falcons. So you know Drew Brees, Michael Thomas and crew were out looking for revenge and man did they deliver.

The Saints dominated the 1st half as the score at the half was 20-7. In the 2nd half Jameis and crew were at least trying to hold their own against the powerhouse but in the end the Bucs just couldn’t pull through as the Saints wanted the game more. Jameis in the game was mediocre at best as he showed us like he normally does, that he is and always will be inconsistent.

Yes Jameis did throw for over 300 yards but what everyone is talking about and rightfully so is his turnovers. Once again he is leading the league with 20 interceptions with 4 of those being Sunday and to me, that is not winning football.

His counterpart Brees did the total opposite and bounced back from his horrendous performance against the Falcons as he threw for 228 and 3 touchdowns with no picks. Once again Michael Thomas is a Bucs killing machine as he had 8 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown to make his season against us 19 catches overall for 296 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jameis wasn’t our only reason why the Bucs lost, the offensive line just couldn’t protect him as he was running for his life most of the snaps and the defense that was dominant in the early season was non-existent as they couldn’t stop Brees and Thomas.

Shaq Barrett the league leading sack leader was no where to be found as he had no tackles or sacks and was double teamed most of the game. Even though the box score shows at one point the game was close it but it really wasn’t New Orleans dominated on both sides of the ball as they won the game 34-17 and sent the Bucs home to a 3-7 record.
