BUCCANEERS CORNERBACK SEAN MURPHY-BUNTINGPOSTGAME

(On facing Gardner Minshew II versus Nick Foles) “He (Minshew II) is more mobile. He gets the ball out a lot faster than Foles usually does. He’s a guy who brings a lot of energy to the team. He’s a young guy, high-energy guy, so I know they were going to feed off of him. We just had to match the energy plus more, and just come out harder than we did the first half.”
(On his interception in the end zone) “We had a little combo going on. My guy went outside, so I took the No. 1 guy going inside. So, I’m coming across, got my head back around, saw the ball go up in the air and just caught it. And, that’s kind of what happened.”
(On the difference in the Buccaneers defense the last two weeks in the takeaways in shutting down Atlanta and Jacksonville) “I would say the difference would just be preparation. Honestly, we’ve been preparing a lot more than we did in the beginning of the season. We’ve been being sticklers on competing at all times for the ball, causing turnovers and getting turnovers. In the beginning of the season, we were lacking getting turnovers and getting interceptions, per se, so that’s kind of something we have to take pride in and did, and we’ve been doing it for the past couple weeks.”
(On what is said in the defensive huddle to hold the Jaguars for seven plays inside the 5-yard line) “Just hold them out. We have to stay strong, stay together, stay physical and stand to not let them get in the end zone. If anything, they’re going to get a field goal out of this, and that’s kind of it. And that’s our mentality whenever we’re on the field. We don’t want them to get a yard if they can’t. So, once they get down to the goal line, it’s, ‘You get three points and that’s it,’ or ‘You kind of get off the field.’ That’s our mentality.”
(On how much the defense has grown over the season) “I think we’ve grown each and every week. From the first week, I know we’ve grown a tremendous amount. And I’ve always said that we’ve always been growing together. It was going to take some time with all of us being really young. But when you adjust to the speed of the game, when you learn how to prepare properly, like a vet, like a pro, it starts to come hand-in-hand, and it starts to mentally prepare you for everything else. So you just kind of go out there and just play your game.”
