The Broward State Attorney’s Office has been awarded a grant of $1 million from the U.S. Department of Justice to support and improve the use of body-worn cameras and digital evidence in our community, State Attorney Harold F. Pryor announced.

The State Attorney’s Office was one of just three prosecutors’ offices in the nation awarded the federal grant this year. The grant money will be provided over a period of three years.

“Body-worn cameras and other digital evidence play increasingly important roles in the criminal justice system and we are proud to be at the forefront of this work. We are very grateful for this grant from the federal government. We are also very grateful for the cooperation from our partners in law enforcement and the community to help ensure that we are making the most of these tools to keep our community safe,” Broward State Attorney Harold F. From David Volz

The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) hosted its inaugural industry forum at PortMiami this morning, convening government, business and community leaders to exchange ideas for better collaboration and innovation.

More than 500 participants engaged with the department’s planning, project management, and construction teams. Among those in attendance were industry partners, architects, planners, engineers, and contractors that can assist DTPW in executing a wide spectrum of transit, roadway, and other transportation projects.

“DTPW’s Industry Forum is a game changer in our efforts to build a healthier, better connected, more resilient, and future-ready Miami-Dade County,” said County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “This is a prime example of how we are continuing to build on our county’s mobility pillars: streets for people, innovation and sustainability, social equity and access, and better transit.”

The event featured presentations by DTPW Director and CEO, Eulois Cleckley, the department’s leadership team, and representatives from Miami-Dade Strategic Procurement Department and Small Business Development (SBD). The presentations included key information about DTPW’s multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program.

“We are shifting gears to advance a comprehensive transportation system for our county that truly connects residents, visitors, and businesses with opportunity and success,” said DTPW Director and CEO Eulois Cleckley. “By hosting this event, we have taken another step forward in a new direction to expand and improve mobility and connectivity not just in our County but in the region. Our goal remains to be the world’s best provider of transportation options.”

DTPW develops, coordinates, and operates the county’s transportation networks. It is currently working on a myriad of key mobility improvements to deliver safe, clean, efficient, reliable, sustainable, and equitable public transportation infrastructure and services for the residents, visitors, and businesses of Miami-Dade County.

The forum helped initiate new conversations with industry leaders to assist the county and DTPW to continue working on a transportation system that is quicker, safer, and more connected. DTPW plans to make it an annually gathering.
