Brok, Morris Awarded C-USA Pair of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris from the No. 10-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team (9-6, 3-0 in Conference USA) have been named C-USA Pair of the Week, as announced by the league Wednesday. The pair is coming off a dominating performance at the March to May, which included tallying the game-winning dual point in the Owls’ 3-2 upset win over No. 5 LSU, who was 15-0 coming into the match.
 
The court one pair finished last weekend with a 4-1 mark in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Following a narrow 18-21, 22-20, 13-15 loss to No. 1 UCLA, Brok/Morris won four consecutive matches. The pair defeated the No. 1 pair from No. 15 South Carolina with a 21-17, 21-15 straight-set win and followed that up with a victory over No. 7 Grand Canyon in comeback fashion, 13-21, 21-12, 15-9. Brok/Morris took down C-USA foe UAB in straight-sets 21-19, 21-18 on Saturday before delivering one of the biggest wins of the season against No. 5 LSU, 17-21, 21-17, 15-8, which was the game-clinching point of the match. The Owls’ win over LSU was the program’s highest ranked win.
 
Brok/Morris boast a 12-3 mark this season, 83-26 overall, with their lone losses coming against the No. 1, 2 and 3 teams in the country. The pair’s 41 career court one wins is a school record along with their 83 victories as a pair.
