Boyd Tabbed C-USA Freshman of the Week

DALLAS – Florida Atlantic University guard Nick Boyd has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week. Boyd hauls in his first career conference honor after a pair of strong performances for the Owls, who are off to their best start in school history at 7-1 and are ranked No. 23 in the first NCAA Net Rankings of the season.


BOYD’S BIG WEEK

Boyd continued to shine in two more wins for the 7-1 Owls. The native of Garnerville, N.Y. averaged 14 points and 8.5 rebounds per game on 56.2% shooting (9-of-16) from the field and shot 37.5% (3-of-8) from 3-point range.

In the Owls’ 84-59 win over South Alabama, Boyd recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He followed that up with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting and seven rebounds in the 101-74 win over Eastern Michigan.

Boyd has played a key role in FAU’s school-record 7-1 start, as he is averaging 8.9 points on an even 50% shooting from the floor with 4.7 rebounds per game in seven starts.
