Borner’s Blast Sends Lynn Men’s Soccer to SSC Final

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Top-seeded Lynn University’s men’s soccer’s team used a first-half goal from Lukas Borner to down fourth-seeded Nova Southeastern on Thursday night, propelling the Fighting Knights to the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Tournament Final for the first time since 2016.

STATS OF THE GAME:

·         Borner fired home his second goal of the season after the ball found him following a scramble in the box after a Fighting Knight corner kick.

·         Konstantin Fuhry earned the win between the pipes, making two saves in a full 90:00.

·         Lynn outshot NSU 9-7 and both teams had five corners a piece.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

·         The Blue and White last were in the SSC Final in 2016 and last claimed the SSC Postseason Title in 2014.

·         Borner’s goal snapped a scoreless streak of over 324 minutes against NSU as Lynn had last scored on Sept. 24, 2016 versus the Sharks.

·         The last five matches between these teams have been decided by a goal or less.
