Bites-N-Sips in Coral Springs and Broward County School Board continues to fight for mask mandates in schools

Broward County School Board continues to fight for mask mandates in schools

The Broward County School Board has told the State of Florida that it will not change its stance on the mask mandate in schools because it has a responsibility to keep children safe. The Florida Board of Education expectation that the school district must follow the state’s mask mandate or face financial penalties is against the law and infringes on the School Board’s legal authority to run the schools, according to an argument by the School Board. The School Board has argued that parents don’t have an unlimited right to send their children to school without a mask because it would infringe on the rights of other parents who want their children to be safe. The Florida Board of Education has prohibited schools from requiring students to wear masks. Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Board of Education of have said that parents should be able to make this decision.
