Big East Championship

The Big East Championship at Madison Square Garden started off slow. Neither team hit a shot until 14:41 to go in the 1st half, more that 5 minutes without any points. The points starting trickling in for both teams battling the biggest lead of the half was 4 at 21-17 when Donovan Clingan sunk a pair of free throws. Marquette then ran off 5 in a row to take a 22-21 lead, but UConn would answer, and Tristen Newton made a 3 to end the half 26-24 UConn. Clingan has a double double in the first half with 10 points and 10 boards, Newton has 6 points as well. For Marquette Jones has 6 points and 6 boards, Ighodaro has 6 points and Lowery has 5 points off the bench.
The first 8 min of the second half was the same as the 1st half both teams battling tough. Then Coach Hurley took out the big man Clingan and The UConn offense opened up. The team started to move the ball around the perimeter and started to make 3’s. The score went from 39-37 to 60-44 in a six-minute stretch with UConn taking control of the game and most likely the number one seed in the NCAA Tournament next week. The final score was 73-57 UConn wins The 2024 Big East Championship.
