LAKELAND, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team defeated the Florida Southern Mocassins 8-3 in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Henley Field, securing the SSC series win.

How it Happened
  • After three scoreless innings from both pitchers, the Sharks broke through in the top of the fourth inning. 
  • Each of the first four hitters for NSU reached base, as Nova Southeastern took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from MC Sagaro
  • Tyson Cooper followed with a three-run, bases clearing double, pushing the lead to 4-0. 
  • Bryan Loriga capped off the inning with a two-run home run, giving the Sharks a 6-0 advantage. 
  • FSC got on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly, putting the score at 6-1, in the bottom half of the frame. 
  • Ariel Garcia added a solo home run, putting the Sharks in front 7-1. 
  • The Mocs plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, putting the score at 7-3. 
  • In the top of the eighth inning, Kristian Noriega worked a bases loaded walk, extending the Nova Southeastern lead to 8-3. 
  • Pedro Acosta recorded the final six outs for the Sharks, sealing the 8-3 victory and the Sunshine State Conference series win. 
  • Frank Ellisalt and Acosta combined to throw 3.2 shutout innings in relief for NSU.
