WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team opened their Sunshine State Conference series against Palm Beach Atlantic with a 1-0 shutout victory on Friday evening from Rubin Park. NSU has now won five consecutive games.

- Collin Rothermel got the starting nod on Friday night for the Sharks and put together another strong outing on the mound.
- Rothermel struck out six Sailfish batters, scattering four hits and worked around three walks, in 6.2 innings of shutout baseball.
- Both starting pitchers matched each other with zeroes on the scoreboard for the first six innings.
- Nova Southeastern finally broke through in the seventh, taking advantage of a Palm Beach Atlantic miscue, as Ryan Cainzos came into score from second on a wild pitch.
- Frank Elissalt took over for Rothermel in the bottom of the seventh inning, with runners on first and second base. Elissalt got out of the jam with a groundout, ending the inning and maintaining the 1-0 lead for the Sharks’
- Elissalt threw two more scoreless innings, earning his first save of the year, as NSU shutout the Sailfish 1-0 in the Sunshine State Conference series opener.
