BOCA RATON, Fla. – (June 12, 2019) – The announcement of the 2019 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams includes two members of the Florida Atlantic University baseball team, in Pedro Pages and Francisco Urbaez.
Pages was chosen as a First Team member, and as such, is eligible for All-American honors. The junior catcher threw out 17 runners attempting to steal this season (plus three pickoffs) and only committed three errors for a .993 fielding percentage. He also batted .310, and his .423 on-base percentage (third on the team) was 55 points higher than either of his previous two seasons. In addition to those two stats, he set a career high in nearly every offensive category.
Urbaez, the Second Team second baseman, hit .322 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in his first year as an Owl. He finished among the league’s leaders in runs, hits, walks, total bases and on-base percentage, and he too was dynamite defensively, pacing all players in the conference in assists and was part of the most double plays among middle infielders.
