BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic senior pitcher C.J. Williams has been named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Williams is the first Owl to earn a Player/Pitcher of the Week nod from the AAC.
The Deerfield Beach native tossed the program’s first complete game shutout since 2016 in Friday’s 5-0 win over Tulane. Williams conceded five hits and two walks. He recorded five strikeouts and needed 111 pitches to go the distance and improve his record to 5-2 on the season.
Now in his second campaign with the Owls, Williams leads the team with a 2.83 ERA, 60.1 innings pitched, and 53 strikeouts. He is third in the AAC in opposing bat average (.205).
Florida Atlantic baseball is on the road for the next five games starting with Tuesday’s finale in the season series against Miami. The Owls return home on May 3 to start a weekend series against UAB.
